Implant Supported Hybrid Appliances
An implant-supported hybrid prosthesis is either an acrylic resin or porcelain over a metal bar complete fixed dental prosthesis and supported by implants by being permanently screwed onto titanium implants surgically placed into the jaw. This is the most desirable solution in individualized assessed cases that are in need of restoration for esthetics, function, lip support, and speech without the need for full palate coverage. The characteristics of a hybrid are: function like normal teeth, are supported by implants, are screw retained and not removable on a daily basis, and do not cover the roof of the mouth thus not triggering a gagging reflex and will not affect block taste buds.
